Christmas is coming ... do you have enough chairs?

We are heading into the busy time of year where the Christmas celebrations are beginning to be planned, from the food, drinks, gifts and deciding who's turn is it for holding the family Christmas meals at their house.
Most families and friends like to spend Christmas together in one location and it can be quite stressful in the planning stages. When families extend with new members being born, children growing up and getting partners and wanting to share in the celebrations it can be difficult to host Christmas if you don't have enough seating for everyone.
Imagine those past few years having Christmas lunch around the dining table by dragging in the garden chairs from outside, the office chairs near the computers, finding a beanbag, ottoman, and gathering the stools and the camping chairs all into the one room because your 4 dining chairs aren't quite enough for everyone. This can be quite a challenge and you find that even though it may seem like a fun and casual Christmas lunch with everyone sitting on something different, its not ideal to have a lovely meal together around the family dining table.
Finding the perfect chair design, colour and style you have in mind when you visit the furniture stores, specialty store and online that comes in a bigger quantity and availability of the stock when you need them before Christmas could be a little tricky to get hold of in time.
Considering the better option to purchase custom made chairs, that can be made to the style, design, colour, the quantity you require to be ready when you are needing the chairs would take the stress out of having your guests over for Christmas lunch seated on matching chairs.

Do yourself a favour, buy a solid timber coffee table

When it comes to purchasing a coffee table to match the new suede lounge suite where do you start. Consider the colour texture and size would be very important factors to find the ideal match to your lounge room.
It may seem simple to go to a store and buy one that is on sale in a catalogue. But do you really know where this coffee table has been manufactured and would it last quite a number of years without deteriorating?
Lets first consider the option of purchasing a solid wood brown coated coffee table overseas or Australian made one.
The first tag says its made in Australia, solid oak material, treated with termite protection, weathered proof coating and has a lifetime guarantee.
The second tag says it from an overseas company imported to Australia. It appears to be solid but when you really examine it further it is hollow inside, the coating looks like a light gloss that has a strange smell to the material, it has no sign of being termite protected and no lifetime warranty.
What would be the better option to select out of strong sturdy timber coffee table  made in Australia from natural ingredients or a cheaper coffee table that is imported from overseas that many not have a long life span?
Selecting a solid timber coffee table from Australia you know it would be well suited to our climate, be sturdy and reliable and having a lifetime guarantee can certainly be the better option. Although it may cost a little bit more, it would pay of later on and be with you for quite a number of years without having to replace it.

Taking Care of Your Jarrah Furniture

jurrah furniture
Are you looking for new furniture for your home? You may want to consider getting jarrah furniture. Jarrah is a beautiful hardwood that comes from tall eucalyptus trees in Western Australia. It has rough bark and alternate leaves. This type of wood is very durable and perfect for your furniture.

As with all furniture, jarrah requires a certain level of care. Especially if your furniture is kept outside, you want to make sure you are protecting it from the elements. Wood has a tendency to change colors when it is left outside. In order to preserve the color of your jarrah timber furniture, you can apply some teak oil to it about every six weeks. This will minimize cracks on the surface and slow the weathering process. Before applying the oil, make sure you scrub the surface with a brush and some warm, soapy water to remove dirt.

In certain conditions, you may find sap resin on the surface of your furniture. If it dries and crystallizes, you can remove it by using a stiff brush. However, if the sap is still sticky, you may want to use a sharp knife to remove it and then use a wipe to clean the area.

Jarrah furniture can be a great new addition to your home. With proper care, you can maintain the jarrah’s beautiful color and keep it looking almost new.
